Cancer Research UK have just launched a new website, designed and built by Essence, to improve the way they support people who take part in sporting eventsprimarily running, across the country to raise funds for their life-saving research work.
The new website replaces a legacy website that was built several years ago, well before the web 2.0 revolution. The key was to ensure the proposition of fundraising for Cancer Research UKresonated across the varied user base, which consists of people of all ages and web experience and from amateur participants who only have fundraising on their minds when signing up to an event to competitive participants. The site ensures all user types can find an event, learn more about it, sign up and begin fundraising in a simple, seamless and engaging way.
The website was developed using Essence’s own content management system Fig™, built on the robust and rigorously tested Zend Framework, and utilises a hosting solution supplied by Essence. Visit the website at www.cancerresearchuk.org/running.
